After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, Dr. Won earned his medical degree at Loma Linda University and undertook his surgical internship at the University of Maryland Hospital and R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, the nation’s first Trauma Hospital. He completed his neurosurgical training at Georgetown University, capping his tenure capping his tenure as chief neurosurgical resident, and followed up with a one-year fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the Institute for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

Prior to joining Florida Hospital Medical Group and its celebrated Neurosurgeons for Kids program, Dr. Won served for 30 years as a staff neurosurgeon and pediatric neurosurgeon in multiple California hospitals. He also served for over five years as an expert reviewer on the Medical Board of California, and as a member of Medical Review Committed for San Bernardino County Medical Society.

Dr. Won’s research and clinical interests include surgical techniques to avoid posterior fossa syndrome – retractor avoidance for tumor resection, and modification of ventriculo peritoneal shunts to decrease the incidence of shunt failure.
